Advertising is an essential element of any business. It allows you to promote the brand, the products while working to reach a specific market and niche. Using social media platforms to accomplish your advertising goals is critical. There are other forms of online advertising from digital marketing to affiliate marketing that you can use.
In this article, I want to give you five of my highly recommended essentials for online advertising. Be sure to read this entire article if you have an interest in creating an income through internet marketing because you will find several gold nuggets.
Understanding Online Advertising
Before we get into the five essentials for online advertising, I thought it would be important to first explain your primary objective as an online marketer.
- DRIVING TRAFFIC aka MARKETING/ADVERTISING
It’s imperative to understand that without traffic (eyeballs) to your website that no money will be made. So if you want to make money online, your number one goal MUST be learning how to drive traffic – both free and paid.
Step 1: Create a Facebook Business Page
So now that we’ve established that TRAFFIC is your most important job as an online advertiser, now we need to go to where the eyeballs are.
According to Alexa.com the top 3 most visited websites in the world are:
- YouTube
So naturally, you should want to position yourself to put your message in front of the eyeballs on all 3 of those sites.
Because of the ability for you to build an audience so quickly on Facebook, this is where we’ll begin.
So the first essential to your online advertising career is to create a Facebook business page.
Creating this page is necessary to maximize the opportunity that’s available to you on Facebook. Trying to advertise on your personal Facebook profile is not as productive as creating a business page on Facebook. The reason I say this is because Facebook limits your “reach” on your personal profile. Only about 5-10% of your friends see what you say, and if you add a link to that post that number lowers. Facebook calls this engagement.
The business page comes into play because this is where you run paid advertising. The only way to tap into the 1 billion+ eyeballs on Facebook is to pay for it.
Step 2: Build Your Audience
The next essential to a successful online business is building your audience. There are a lot of ways to build an audience online, but there’s one key thing to understand…
You do not own your social media sites like YouTube and Facebook. So no matter how many YouTube subscribers you’ve acquired, they’re not yours! And the same goes for Facebook. So any time either of these platforms decides to make a change (which they often do) you could lose your audience overnight – and your income in the process!
Which is why you must build an audience through channels that you own. The #1 way to build your audience is through an email marketing database.
I don’t have time to explain email marketing in depth here in this article, but if you search for “email autoresponder services” that’s precisely what you’ll need. The main ones are Aweber and GetResponse.
Step 3: Communication Tools
Now that you’ve started building your audience you need to be able to communicate with them on the fly. How else are you going to share all of your fresh products and services?
This is where your email auto-response comes into play. You can send email to your audience whenever you want, about whatever you want.
More communication tools to utilize are things like:
- Facebook Messenger Bots
- Bulk SMS Software
- Ringless Voicemail Technology
- GroupMe (texting app)
All of these are merely a means to an end, it doesn’t matter which particular one you use. However, I tend to use what works best for each person individually.
Step 4: Provide Value
Now that you have built an audience up and you have methods to communicate with them, it’s time to start providing value to your tribe.
In case you’re unsure what I mean when I say “value,” let me explain.
The people that are following you are following you because they believe that you can help them get from where they are now to where they want to be shortly.
You have to provide value on the front end. Give them things they can benefit from watching, reading, or hearing. This will help build their trust.
Step 5: Monetize
After providing your audience with the value, you’ll soon be considered as an authority in the marketplace. Once you’re perceived as an expert in the eyes of your tribe, you can then begin to monetize your audience.
Depending on your particular niche, this is when you’ll start to sprinkle products/services into your marketing that your tribe will undoubtedly be happy to spend their hard earned money on.
IF… you have followed these five essentials correctly.
